Just wanted to share the good news – I have graduated in Illustration from the University of East London. My lovely results are Bachelor of Arts Honours Illustration – 2:1.
At university every year we showcased our work in an exhibition. This year I exhibited my Final Major Project an illustrated book retelling of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
I also made models of the Lion and the Witch to help make the story come to life. Another project I exhibited involved model making of the Houses of Parliament including Big Ben, the London Eye and making my version of the BT Tower. This is like a replica toy. From this I learnt how people respond to my work and I enjoyed seeing people’s reactions to my models, paintings and illustrations. This inspired me to keep working hard and improve my skills. You can view below my Final Major Project.

For Halloween 2017, celebrating Men In Black 20th anniversary, I transformed my dad and myself into “Men In Black” to make a change to look inspirational, appealing and original. I hand made the Neuralyzer and spray painted the water pistols.
POSITION STATEMENT
When I was much younger, I liked creating all sorts of things out of Legos on a daily basis. This was the start of how I developed my skills even going on to do illustrating at a very young age . In my spare time, I enjoy creating a lot of illustrations for my own stop motion animation and story books. As part of my final Art project at school, I wrote an illustrated story book based on my studies in the 6th form with beautiful illustrations. When I was doing my AS art exam assignments,
I created models out of Paper Mache because it is a flexible medium to use. My first Paper Mache figures were the star war figures this encouraged my interest in Science Fiction. I then went on to make more models using wooden mannequins as skeletons, which I sculpt out of Paper Mache into different human figures. I handmade the miniature clothes, shoes, hairstyle and accessories for these models. This demonstrates my ability to focus on a task, concentrate and attend to detail. Using one of these models, I created a short stop motion animation using my still digital camera.
My present knowledge and skills.
-
- I continue to sculpture wooden mannequins out of paper Mache , making by hand the miniature clothes hairstyle and all accessories.
- Improved the accuracy of my work and able to meet deadlines by starting work well in advance.
- Improved my reading skills and understanding the assignment brief.
- Completed an essay on the animator: Ray Harryhausen and carried out research into his style of animation.

This year over the summer holiday’s 2015 I practised sculpturing . I sculptured out of paper Mache and cloth material, Davy Jones from Pirates of The Caribbean. Studying the model, I feel I have developed my skills even further from my first sculptured Davy Jones model which I made out of clay. The Davy Jones model I recently created looks more detailed and creative especially I made the miniature hat out of cardboard which is very detailed.
Over this summer I kept up my realistic drawing skills
to get prepared for my second year at university so that my drawing skills won’t get rusty over the summer holidays before I return to university. I drew a lot of realistic illustrations in my personal sketchbook, I first printed off the actual images from google images to draw and to exaggerate the characters wearing different costumes. Aims for this year is to try to make it easier for me to understand the assignments I am expected to complete on time, I plan to achieve this by staying behind after class and getting a power point from my tutors of what I did not understand in the lecture. I will read my brief carefully so that I understand the assignments.
This year I will continue attending the Writing Centre to help me with my grammar and punctuations for my assignments.

At present, I am working on a movie poster – I would like to make this type of work more dramatic, but also more realistic, not cartoonish. I want to develop my work with the use of colours and experiment with different mediums.

My biggest ambition within the next year is to succeed in the second year at university so that I can go on to the third year. My other future ambition plans within a year’s time is producing, putting my models and other creative work on the world wide websites – YouTube and Google Images. Sending off my printed illustrated story book, George’s senior year at high school to publishers so that they can look at it.
In 5/10 years’ time I would like to work as a freelance illustrator, designer, I would like to wax work at Madame Tussauds another ambition is to work in art department of a film and television studio.

The Ultimate Dinner Guess. I have invited 6 artists to my dinner party, to talk about my artwork career and ideas.
I am also interested in working in the theatre in prop making and stage set design. I would like to continue being part of the education environment and being a trainee teacher or teaching assistant is something I am confident I would be good at, as I enjoyed it when I did work experience supporting younger children with their learning difficulties at Northway Primary School, Edgware, North London. I would also particularly enjoy working in a school that specialises in giving Art and Design graduates the opportunity to help other up and coming Art students in the next academic years.
